The Oedipus Brewery and Taproom are moving!

From April 14 our current taproom will be closed. We hope to welcome you all again at our new location, the Oedipus Craft Space, early Summer.

You can find Sander’s Library at the special bar between 17:00 and 19:00, this Saturday 13 April.

Converging from all corners of the Latin America, with a local Dutch spice, La Banda Fantástica are the Cumbia heroes we need right now. We can’t wait to see this six piece with their conga set in action.

SPECIAL EDITION ART CAN BY ISA GRÜTTER AND MICK JOHAN

For their upcoming exhibition I will fight you forever artist Isa Grütter and Mick Johan made a Special Edition Art Can. The artists joined forces and black pencils, and made a collection of sexy, sad and violent drawings that will be on view at Galerie de Schans until May 26.

The can comes in an edition of 500 and contains Oedipus Strip. It is exclusively available at the opening next week Friday 12 April, so make sure to come! From 17:00 at Warmoesstraat 67.

THE HOMESICK AT  TAPROOM FAREWELL PARTY LIVE

Yeehaa. Whenever we plan an event and think, ahhh what would be a nice band to book, we somewhat jokingly say that in any case, the best band to ask is always *The Homesick* And now here they are.

These Groningen weirdos fuse their post-punk rhythms with melodic whimsical pop and somehow only make great songs. Whatever instruments they touch, and they touch quite a few, together they are always unmistakably, The Homesick.

For our Taproom Farewell Party on 13 April, they have a late shift and start at 23:45. Because this night, they come to dance.

NOT BEFORE WE SAY GOODBYE

The time has come. We are saying farewell to our home at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 to set course to a new destination.

For the past ten years GH85 has been the heart of our operation. It’s where we have created, learned, matured, failed and flourished. It has truly been a blast, and of course we want to give it a proper sendoff.

On Saturday 13 April, we will celebrate in the long night of cheers, tears & beers, and we would love for you to all be there.

We have a full night of fun planned. Our brewers will dust off things from the archive at the Studio Beer Bar for some awesome trips down memory lane.

There will be live music by three amazing bands: weirdopoppers The Homesick, Cumbia heroes La Banda Fantastica and psychyrockers Cocobolo.

There is food by The Beef Chief, who else, also revisiting some classics,
and you will see many familiar faces in the DJ booth!

DREAMING OF A GOOD HARVEST

In the meantime, the season turned to Spring and we at Oedipus are too hyped for release of the all-round staff favourite: Remix – our big tasty Keller Bier.

Our spring seasonal Remix is a classic beer in a colourful Oedipus jacket. Just like a musical remix, this beer offers a twist to a traditional style. In this case, the German Keller Bier. Remix is a modern, unfiltered lager with subtle floral and spicy hop aromas and a malty body. The beer is refermented with a young actively fermenting beer, and has been bottled a while ago, waiting patiently for its perfectly timed comeback. Which is now!

Leading up to the Remix release, our colour & design studio has been reimagining the beer label and added a new holographic dimension to the design, well fitted for this beer. It’s not fizzy, fuzzy or fussy. But it 𝘪𝘴 shiny & delish.

Last week we had a little family party for the release because Remix is best drunk fresh and in good company.

To celebrate we had a love parade with our team in their new Craft Space suits. Also marking the impending move of our brewery and taproom. We walked from our soon-to-be-headquarters back to the taproom in a colourful dance procession, annoying many of our neighbours. But all in good spirits.

Remix is our spring seasonal, available for only three months, so get it while you can.

ENTERING THE CRAFT SPACE

The big news of the year 02024 is that the Oedipus Spacecraft will soon set course to the Oedipus Craft Space. Yes yes, we are moving. If that makes you wonder whether you should start saving up for a spacesuit, and if you would even look good in orange: the answers are yes and you’ll look fabulous.

Our current digs at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 have served us well over the past 10 years (!), but with the expansion of the brewery, our beer portfolio and our human team, we have come to outgrow it. A large part of our operation has already been managed from the new location for a while, and we just started missing each other too much. It’s time to reunite.

Take off is planned for the end of April*, and landing shortly after. But like a trip to the International Space Station may take either six hours or three days, it’s all dependent on the weather

Where we’ll be landing however, we do know. The Oedipus Craft Space ~ just up the street from the present brewery and taproom, where we have found the space we need to bring everyone and everything we love together.

It’s big lucky that we’re able to stay in the same area in Amsterdam Noord. This is where we grew up as a brewery, and have made some great friends with our neighbours such as Skatecafé, Fanny Freytag, Europizza & Bar Benelux, Club Paradise, Quba, Coba and the Green Viper guy.

We are currently in the midst of renovating the building, stuffing the space with all our hopes and dreams. Dreams like a big brewery that is closely connected to the taproom and terrace, a labyrinth of barrels for the wild side, a small brew kit we can use for taproom-exclusive experiments, colourful studios and workshops for our creatives, a recording studio and live music stage, and the world’s first bottling linedance. This and many more things will be crossed off our wish list. We truly cannot wait to show it all to you.

However, patience is key…  Just bear with us through the noise for now, and when we have more to tell, you will be the first to know.
